SAFE-AT-HOME HYGIENE KIT BUILD
This project ended on June 7, 2020.
Together, we built 5,000 hygiene kits for our unhoused neighbors!
While under California's "safe-at-home" orders, over 140 volunteers picked up supplies at a drive-thru location and built their hygiene kits while safe-at-home. A week later, volunteers returned their completed kits to be distributed by one of our homeless service provider partner organizations.
WHAT IS A HYGIENE KIT?
A hygiene kit ins a 3-in-1 tool.
A hygiene kit contains basic hygiene items that provide our neighbors experiencing homelessness with tools to maintain their health and sense of dignity.
Our non-profit partners use hygiene kits as a first step in their outreach & relationship-building.
Assembling hygiene kits is an impactful hands-on volunteer opportunity to build empathy and advocacy within our housed community.
Our kits contain:
toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, bath wipes, a first-aid kit, toilet paper, bottled water, a snack, a pair of socks, a COVID-19 postcard, a mask, and a note of encouragement.
Each kit costs $5 to assemble. Donate money to provide highly requested hygiene kit items.
Fill out our interest form to let us know you can build hygiene kits while safe-at-home!
We're asking volunteers to sew reusable masks to help protect our unhoused neighbors.
One of the most important elements of our kits is the "note of encouragement."
Help us get the word out by sharing on social media and inviting friends to donate and volunteer!
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
