SAFE-AT-HOME HYGIENE KIT BUILD
a pilot program developed by
SELAH Neighborhood Homeless Coalition & resisterhoodLA
This project ended on June 7, 2020.
Together, we built 5,000 hygiene kits for our unhoused neighbors!
While under California's "safe-at-home" orders, over 140 volunteers picked up supplies at a drive-thru location and built their hygiene kits while safe-at-home. A week later, volunteers returned their completed kits to be distributed by one of our homeless service provider partner organizations.
WHAT IS A HYGIENE KIT?
A hygiene kit ins a 3-in-1 tool.
A hygiene kit contains basic hygiene items that provide our neighbors experiencing homelessness with tools to maintain their health and sense of dignity.
Our non-profit partners use hygiene kits as a first step in their outreach & relationship-building.
Assembling hygiene kits is an impactful hands-on volunteer opportunity to build empathy and advocacy within our housed community.
Our kits contain:
toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap, bath wipes, a first-aid kit, toilet paper, bottled water, a snack, a pair of socks, a COVID-19 postcard, a mask, and a note of encouragement.

Thank you for your interest! Our Safe-At-Home Hygiene Kit Build program was completed on June 7, 2020.
We encourage you to volunteer with SELAH or host your own Hygiene Kit Build using our guide.
